Goals Of A Neck Lift

Candidates For Neck Enhancement Surgery

You may be a good candidate for a neck lift if you are:

In addition to this procedure, it can be combined with other procedures, such as a facelift, chin augmentation, or liposuction, for comprehensive enhancement.

What to Expect at Your Consultation

Your neck lift consultation is an important first step in achieving your desired results. During your visit, Dr. Perrotta or Dr. Luppens will discuss your aesthetic goals, examine your facial structure, and assess the amount of skin laxity and fat accumulation in the neck area.

Based on your individual needs, your surgeon will recommend a customized surgical plan and explain what you can expect before, during, and after your procedure. Once the surgical approach is determined, the aesthetic coordinator will provide a detailed written quote that outlines all associated costs in order to provide you with full transparency. At this time, your preoperative appointment will be scheduled.

Pre-Op Visit

Your preoperative visit ensures you are fully prepared for your neck lift surgery. During this appointment, one of our trained medical assistants will take pre-op photographs for your records. Your surgeon will thoroughly explain the surgical technique, anesthesia plan, and recovery expectations while reviewing any potential risks. Although every surgery involves some risk, major complications are rare.

Additionally, your surgeon will examine your medical history and perform a final physical exam, including a check of vital signs to confirm you are medically cleared for surgery. All consent forms are completed at this visit, final payments are processed, and you will receive a confirmation call 24 hours before surgery with your arrival time and instructions.

Neck Enhancement Surgery

A neck lift can address multiple concerns, including sagging skin, muscle banding, and excess fat beneath the chin. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the patient’s comfort level and the extent of the surgery.

For patients with excess fat deposits, liposuction may be used to remove unwanted fat from under the chin and along the jawline, resulting in a more sculpted appearance. In cases involving loose or excess skin, the surgeon carefully trims and repositions the skin for a smoother contour. If platysmal muscle bands (vertical neck lines) are visible, the underlying muscles are tightened to restore a youthful neckline.

Incisions are made discreetly behind the ears and sometimes beneath the chin to ensure minimal visibility once healed. Following the lifting and repositioning of the underlying tissues, the surgeon usually removes any excess skin. The result is a natural, refreshed look without distortion or tightness.

After the procedure, the incisions are closed with fine sutures, and a compression garment or neck band is applied to reduce swelling and support the tissues during recovery.

Post-Op Recovery

It is recommended that you do not shower for one to two days after your neck lift procedure. A neck band or compression garment should be worn continuously for the first one to two weeks to help maintain your new contour and minimize swelling. Patients can return to normal activities after three weeks of bruising and swelling, and most can return to work within seven to ten days.

You will attend several follow-up appointments with Dr. Perrotta or Dr. Luppens to monitor your healing and ensure you are progressing well. Follow your surgeon’s instructions and avoid strenuous activities after surgery for the best results.
