Each patient’s skin is unique. During your consultation, your provider will determine the appropriate treatment plan and discuss whether chemical peeling, a VI Chemical Peel, or an alternative face peel will provide the best outcome.
What to Expect at your Consultation
At your initial visit, Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens, or Dr. Kerestes will conduct a detailed skin evaluation and discuss your individual goals. After this focused physical examination, the doctor will explain the details of your recommended treatment, including realistic outcomes and possible risks.
You’ll also receive a written cost breakdown from our aesthetic coordinator so there are no surprises. Once you’re ready, we’ll schedule your pre-op visit.
Pre-Op Visit
During this visit, pre-procedure photos will be taken by our trained staff. Your surgeon will explain the full technique and prepare you for what to expect during the healing process. A complete medical history and final physical examination will also be performed. You’ll sign all necessary consents and make final payments at this time.
Preparation Guidelines
To maximize results, patients are asked to use Retin-A and Hydroquinone for at least three weeks before the procedure. These products help thin the skin’s outer layers and minimize pigment irregularities. Retin-A should be paused three days before your peel and resumed three weeks afterward, while Hydroquinone should be paused one day prior and resumed two weeks post-peel.
If you have a history of fever blisters, a preventive antiviral medication may be prescribed. On the day of your chemical peel treatment, arrive with a clean, product-free face.
The Chemical Peel Procedure
During the procedure, IV sedation may be administered for comfort. The treatment begins with cleansing the skin and dividing the face into aesthetic zones. One or more passes of TCA solution are applied to the skin. The process takes approximately 20–30 minutes. Cold packs and fanning help ease any warmth during the peel.
Post-Op Recovery
Post-procedure, expect your skin to appear pink for several weeks. Makeup can typically be used to cover the pink hue. Aftercare includes resuming Hydroquinone two weeks after the peel and Retin-A after three weeks (unless you have Rosacea, in which case an alternative exfoliant is recommended).
For best results, we recommend incorporating a customized skin care program that includes facial peels, skin exfoliation, or skin brightening treatments as advised by your provider.
