Brow Lift in Berlin, MD

Brow Lift

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a surgical procedure designed to rejuvenate the upper face by reducing lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin above the eyes. This procedure helps restore a refreshed, youthful look while lifting drooping eyebrows that can create a tired or stern appearance.

Dr. Perrotta and Dr. Luppens have years of experience performing brow lift surgery for both men and women. Their meticulous techniques and individualized approach allow for natural-looking results with minimal scarring and downtime. By repositioning the brow and smoothing the forehead, they help patients achieve a more open, vibrant expression without altering their natural appearance.

Goals Of A Brow Lift

Candidates For A Brow Lift

You may be a good candidate for a brow lift if you are:

Both men and women who experience signs of aging in the forehead or upper eye area can benefit from this procedure. It is common for brow lifts to be combined with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or other facial rejuvenation treatments for more comprehensive results.

What to Expect at Your Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Perrotta or Dr. Luppens will take time to understand your concerns and aesthetic goals. After performing a focused physical examination of your forehead and brow area, they will determine which surgical technique is most appropriate for your facial structure and desired outcome.

Once your treatment plan is developed, our aesthetic coordinator will provide a written estimate outlining the total cost of your procedure so there are no surprises. At this time, your preoperative visit will also be scheduled.

Pre-Op Visit

Your pre-op visit ensures that you are fully prepared for surgery and recovery. During this appointment, a medical assistant will take preoperative photos for your records. Your surgeon will review the planned technique, explain the recovery process, and answer any questions you may have. There is a risk with every procedure, but major complications are rare.

A comprehensive medical history and physical examination, including a check of your vital signs, will be completed to confirm you are healthy and cleared for surgery. All informed consent forms will be signed, final payments will be processed, and a confirmation call will be made 24 hours before surgery with arrival instructions.

The Brow Lift Surgery

Most brow lift surgeries are performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation, although general anesthesia may be used depending on patient preference or the complexity of the procedure.

Dr. Perrotta and Dr. Luppens place incisions behind, at, or just below the hairline, depending on your hairline position and aesthetic goals. Through these incisions, the forehead skin is carefully lifted, and the underlying muscles may be adjusted to smooth wrinkles and reduce frown lines.

Depending on the technique, your surgeon may release and reposition either the entire brow or only the outer portion to achieve the desired elevation. Once the brows are lifted to their ideal position, the tissues are secured in place using sutures, and the incisions are closed with fine stitches. Soft dressings are then applied to ensure comfort and support during recovery.

This approach allows the surgeons to achieve natural, balanced results while keeping incisions discreet and minimizing visible scarring.

Post-Op Recovery

Most patients return home the same day after surgery with their head wrapped in light dressings to minimize swelling. These dressings are typically removed several days later during your first postoperative visit. In most cases, drains are not required.

Mild discomfort can be managed easily with prescribed oral pain medication. Stitches at or near the hairline are usually removed within 3–6 days, while those placed behind the hairline are removed within 1–3 weeks. Any swelling or bruising generally resolves within 7–10 days.

Light activities can usually be resumed within one week, and makeup can be applied to conceal residual bruising once cleared by the surgeon. During follow-up visits, your results are monitored to ensure they are developing as expected.

A brow lift provides long-lasting results, often lasting for many years. Although aging continues naturally, most patients maintain their rejuvenated look for a decade or longer.

Before surgery, follow your surgeon’s instructions regarding medications, fasting, and preparation. Afterward, care for your incisions as directed, wear any prescribed dressings, and avoid strenuous activities until cleared.

Usually, patients go home the same day and resume normal activities within one or two weeks. Temporary swelling, tightness, and mild bruising are common and gradually resolve.

A surgeon will evaluate your goals during your consultation and recommend the most suitable brow lift technique. The procedure, performed under local or general anesthesia, involves small incisions placed along the hairline to reposition the brows and smooth the forehead.
