Dr. Pellegrino served as a board member and surgeon for La-Merced medical missions, traveling to Nicaragua to provide reconstructive surgery for under privileged children with congenital deformities and acquired deformities of the face, trunk and extremities.
Dr. Pellegrino always wanted to be a surgeon but his specific interest in plastic surgery began while an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins. “Plastic surgery patients were always the most fascinating to me,” states Dr. Pellegrino. “A plastic surgeon must be a doctor, a technician and an artist, it is what truly inspired me to pursue it as a career.”
Prior to establishing Peninsula Plastic Surgery in 1995, Dr. Perrotta served as an attending surgeon and Instructor of Plastic Surgery at Temple University. With extensive training and experience in all areas of plastic surgery, he decided to leave the university setting with the goal of bringing metropolitan-quality plastic surgery to the Delmarva Peninsula. Also, he and his wife, Christina, felt the Delmarva Peninsula would be a wonderful place to raise their five children.
After earning an Honors Degree at Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Perrotta received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed his general surgical internship and residency at the University of Vermont, and his plastic surgery residency at Temple University.

Whether he is refining the hump on a nose or forming the perfect curve on a woman’s hip, he takes great pride in creating the best possible result. He considers himself an artist, with the human body as his medium.
As a founding and board member of La Merced medical missions, Dr. participated in eight medical missions to Nicaragua.
