Who Could Benefit?

  • Women with overly protruding labia minora.
  • Women with asymmetric labia minora.

The Goals of Labial Reduction

  • Labia minora in proper proportion with the rest of a woman’s anatomy.
  • Labia minora with better symmetry.
  • Improved self image and self confidence.

The Labial Reduction Procedure

Doctors Pellegrino and Perrotta perform this procedure on an outpatient basis, in the privacy of their on-site operating room. Most patients opt for local anesthetic alone, although they also offer IV sedation. The procedure takes approximately twenty minutes per side. After the nurse preps the operative area and numbs the tissue with lidocaine, the surgeon trims away the excess tissue. These doctors use the state-of-the-art technique and place the incisions very carefully so that the scars that result from the surgery do not cause pain during intercourse. They usually use absorbable stitches so that none have to be removed later.

Post-Op Recovery Following Labial Reduction

The patient goes home on the day of surgery with a soft gauze dressing inside her underwear. Initial discomfort is controlled with oral medication. Patients may shower the day after surgery. Bruising and swelling, if any, subside in approximately 2-4 weeks. Patient refrain from intercourse for three weeks. The final result is evident in 4-6 weeks.
