Carbon Dioxide Laser Resurfacing is very effective in diminishing the appearance or totally erasing wrinkles on the face.
The science is quite simple. The laser removes the top layers of skin by vaporizing them. Since superficial wrinkles and sun spots reside in the top layers of skin, they are immediately removed. Thereafter, the body’s own wound-healing mechanisms do the rest of the work: the top layer of skin, the epithelium, reforms; fibroblasts, a specialized cell in the dermis, produces collagen, which thickens the skin. Later, the collagen molecules form linkages to adjacent collagen molecules. Weeks later, these linkages shorten, which produces tightening of the skin.
The CO2 laser is considered the most effective weapon for combating wrinkles, other signs of aging and other imperfections such as stretch marks and scars. Skin Resurfacing treatments restore tone and glow to your face through the formation of new skin. By employing DEKA’s technology, we can provide you with an effective solution, always performed in total safety, with minimal risk of undesirable side effects and with drastically reduced recovery times. DOT Therapy powered by the SmartXide DOT laser system employs a unique technology, SmartPulse, that allows simultaneous independent control of both energy (depth) and dwell time (thermal damage). This translates into a great benefit to the patient because the provider can adjust parameters to tailor the patient’s treatment and downtime to the patient’s specific needs. Areas such as the neck, décolletage, eyelids, and darker skin types with a high risk of PIH (Postinflammatory Hyperpigmentation) – previously considered untreatable – can now be treated successfully and safely.
This is one of the most successful techniques for treating every type of wrinkle. The fractioned technology now makes it possible to perform any treatment on the face and neck in total safety, even in such delicate areas as the eyelids. You can now reduce the furrows of deep wrinkles and eliminate the shallower ones. With the correct stimulation, the derma can produce new cells and new collagen, giving your skin a smoother, younger appearance. DEKA’s major technological breakthroughs mean that you can now successfully address all forms of treatment in the dermatological and aesthetic fields. The application is precise and selective, ideal for superficial removal of all skin lesions, even the most delicate. Your provider can now permanently resolve even the most complex situations, such as scars, superficial pigmentation and deep wrinkles. After identifying the correct treatment for your skin, the provider can remove any type of imperfection, at the same time protecting the skin, avoiding scalpel-related side effects and reducing recovery time. The laser induces a re-epithelisation process in the treated area and stimulates the dermis to produce new collagen. After treatment, your skin will be more elastic and smoother, without any scars or alterations to your natural facial expression. Your smile, your eyes and your expression will acquire a natural new glow.
One hour prior to the actual time of treatment, the patient arrives to our office so that specialized anesthetic cream can be applied to the area of skin to be treated. It takes 45 to 60 minutes for the cream to adequately penetrate and numb the skin. We then apply the laser treatment. The treatment takes 30-60 minutes and is dependent on the number of areas being treated. No dressings are needed. The treated area can remain red for 3-8 weeks after healing, dependent on the parameters of the treatment. Swelling may peak at day 2-3. Patients may use mineral powder make up for cover once their face has stopped peeling. Significant improvement in the tone and texture of the skin is gradual.
Additional procedures that might enhance the result are: eyelid lift, brow lift, chemical peel, dermabrasion, chin enlargement, nose reshaping, fat suction, cheekbone enhancement, augmentation/enhancement of lips, reduction of earlobes.
This procedure is considered cosmetic and therefore is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment.
The suitability of laser skin resurfacing for an individual is determined during the office consultation. All procedures have risks. Minor complications occur occasionally. Major complications are quite unusual.
