Salisbury, Maryland Neck Lift
Delaware Neck Lift
WHO COULD BENEFIT?
An individual with who is unhappy with the appearance of his/her neck.
An individual with a collection of fat, and/or excess skin, and/or muscle bands on the neck.
THE GOALS:
More youthful or attractive contour of the neck and jaw line.
Tighter, smoother skin on the neck.
Absence of muscle bands on the neck.
Absence of fullness of the neck due to a fat accumulation.
Improved self image.
THE PROCEDURE:
There are multiple procedures available for neck enhancement. The one your plastic surgeon chooses for you will depend on your particular concerns and anatomy. Most neck lifts include one or more of the following:
• removal of fat by liposuction or direct excision
• trimming and tightening of the platysma muscles bands
• tightening of the skin with the laser/liposuction machine
• surgical removal of excess skin
The type of surgery will determine the type of anesthesia that is required. If all you need is liposuction, your plastic surgeon can perform your surgery with local anesthetic alone, and the procedure only takes 45 minutes! If additional work is necessary, you probably will require IV sedation or general anesthesia.
You plastic surgeon will place your incisions at locations that are most inconspicuous.
After your surgery, you will have a bulky dressing or an elastic neck band.
If you need a full neck lift, you might need a drain or two.
POST-OP RECOVERY:
Most patients can shower one or two days following the surgery.
The great majority of bruising and swelling disappear within three weeks after surgery.
Most patients are asked to wear the neck band for one to three weeks.
OTHER POSSIBILITIES:
If the patient also has skin laxity on the cheeks or jowls, a face lift might be a good alternative or adjunct to a neck lift.
INSURANCE?
Neck lifts are performed for cosmetic reasons. Therefore, they are not covered by insurance.
NOTE
The suitability of a neck lift for an individual is determined during the office consultation. All procedures have risks. Minor complications occur occasionally. Major complications are quite rare.
