THE PROCEDURE:
We usually utilize local anesthesia alone.A handheld device spins a head covered with diamond chips. When applied to the surface of the skin, the diamond chips gently abrade away the top layers of skin, improving wrinkles, removing sun spots and blending superficial scars with the surrounding skin.
POST-OP RECOVERY:
The wound created by this procedures resembles an abrasion.The wound heals withing 10-14 days.
The healed skin is pink for 3-6 weeks.
OTHER POSSIBILITIES:
An alternative to dermabrasion is CO2 laser resurfacing and a deep chemical peel.INSURANCE?
Insurance usually covers the procedrue if it is being performed for scarring.When the procedure is performed for cosmetic reasons, health insurance plays no role.
