WHO COULD BENEFIT?
Individuals whose buttocks have fallen due to weight loss
Individuals with excess skin and skin laxity of the buttocks due to advanced age or weight loss.
Practically all massive weight loss patients.
THE GOALS:
Improvement in body contour
Lifted, more youthful, more buttocks
Tighter, smoother skin of the buttocks
THE PROCEDURE:
A buttock lift requires IV sedation with local anesthesia or general anesthesia or an epidural. During the actual surgery, we remove skin and underlying fat from the upper buttocks. As we close the wound, the buttocks is lifted and the skin tightened. We place the lines of tension deep to the skin so that the scar remains as fine as possible. We usually utilize drains, which prevent hematomas and seromas. Our nursing staff applies the dressings and post-op garment.POST-OP RECOVERY:
The majority of patients go home on the day of surgery.
More mature patients stay overnight in the hospital setting.
We remove the drains in the office, usually three to five days after surgery.
Three weeks after surgery, the patient eases into her/his regular exercise program.
